Volunteers Help Raise Funds at Open Garden Fundraisers

Mon Jun 8th, 2026

Volunteers supporting Shropshire Rural Support have helped raise more than £2,200 after taking part in two successful National Garden Scheme open garden events across Shropshire.

At Eaton Mascott Hall, a team of dedicated volunteers worked tirelessly throughout the day, serving hundreds of hot drinks and providing visitors with a wide selection of homemade cakes. Their enthusiasm, hard work and welcoming smiles were widely praised by organisers and guests alike, helping to create a warm and friendly atmosphere for everyone attending.

Thanks to the generosity of visitors and the efforts of volunteers, an impressive £1,571.10 was raised for Shropshire Rural Support

The previous week, volunteers also attended the National Garden Scheme Open Garden event at Home Farm, Lilleshall, where they once again provided refreshments and cakes for visitors enjoying the beautifully landscaped surroundings. Despite the busy event, the team continued their efforts to support fundraising while engaging with members of the public in a relaxed and welcoming setting.

A further £691.97 was raised at Home Farm, bringing the combined total from both events to £2,263.07 in support of Shropshire Rural Support.

Organisers expressed their sincere gratitude to everyone involved, paying tribute to the volunteers whose dedication ensured both events were a success.

The charity also thanked all those who visited the gardens, purchased refreshments, donated, and supported the events, helping to make both open garden days a great success.

Both events formed part of the National Garden Scheme, which opens private gardens to the public in support of a range of nursing and health charities across the UK.
